Leopard Halloween Makeup

Hey guys! I have been wanting to do a couple of Halloween makeup ideas and I finally did one tonight. I already had makeup on for the day so the steps below are just for the leopard makeup. You may want to start with your normal foundation routine. If you want to go all out, here is a link to do your nails in leopard print.

Products needed:
Light Colored Eyeshadow
Black Pencil Eyeliner
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in the color French Fry (Or a copper/brown eyeliner)
Mascara

Step 1: Use a light colored eyeshadow to highlight the inner corner of your eye and underneath the eye. I used the color Venus from Urban Decay's Naked Basics Palette.
Step 2: Next, line your eye with the black eyeliner. I put it slightly below my lash line to make my eyes appear bigger. I followed my lash line to wing the eyeliner out and I also connected the eyeliner at the inner corner of my eye in a v-shape. If you are worried the eyeliner may wear off you can carefully go over it with a black eyeshadow to set the liner.
Step 3: At the outer part of your eye start to make different shaped spots with your copper or brown colored eyeliner. I used the color French Fries by NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil.
Step 4: Using the black eyeliner start outlining the spots. Line some of them with 'c' shapes and others can be outlined with small gaps in the outline.
Step 5: Apply 2 coats of mascara. If you want a more dramatic look you can use falsies.
Step 6: To make the nose apply the black eyeliner to the tip of your nose.
Step 7: Use a black lipstick or the black eyeliner to fill in your top lip. If you find that the black is getting on your bottom lip you can always color them both in. I think that looks just as good.
Step 8: Connect your nose to your upper lip with one thin line.
Step 9: Add dots to your cheeks and whiskers if you choose.

I hope you guys like this Halloween look. It was a lot of fun to do.

Best Blemish Spot Treatment

Hello! I am excited to share this product with you. I have heard great things about tea tree oil being good for skin, so when I saw this product I knew I had to try it. It is the Desert Essence Blemish Touch Stick and it's a non-drying spot treatment. I've had more than usual breakouts lately and this has really helped clear my skin up. It speeds up the healing process.

Directions: This can be applied to blemishes, insect bites and other skin irritations. It should be applied 5-6 times a day. I like that it can be worn underneath makeup. I always feel like piling concealer on a blemish makes it 10 times worse in the long run, but using this underneath it creates a nice seal. I always wash my face, apply the blemish stick then use a good moisturizer. The blemish stick only takes a few seconds to dry.

Packaging: It comes in a cute little matte bottle. I don't like that it is a roller ball though. I feel that it would transfer bacteria if it was applied directly to the skin. I like to wash my hands and put it on my fingers and then apply it to my face. A q-tip could also be used.

Smell: It does have a strong smell to it. Its hard to describe, but it has a medicated scent to it. It doesn't bother me, but some may not like it. It also goes away after it drys.

Prices: $6.99

I would recommend this product to anyone who is in need  of a spot treatment. I really like that it uses natural oils and doesn't have a ton of chemicals in it. I have had awful experiences with other spot treatments that dry the blemish out, but also dry the skin around it and make it look worse than it did to begin with.

Fall Eye Makeup #2

purple fall eye makeup

Hi everyone. I hope you all are enjoying your day. Its has been rainy and cold the last few days here in Michigan.  Today I wanted to show you how to do this purple eye makeup look. I really like purples for fall, but obviously this is a look that can be done any season. I used Almay's I-Color eyeshadow in Bold Nudes. On the back of the packaging it shows you where to apply each color, but I used them differently.
Materials Used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer
Almay I-Color in Bold Nudes
Maybelline Gel Eyeliner
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara

Step 1: Apply  an eyeshadow primer to help the eyeshadow last longer and not crease.
Step 2: Then, apply the lightest color (top color) all over your lid and into the inner corner of your eye.
Step 3: Use the light purple (bottom color) to your crease and blend upwards and out.
Step 4: Apply the darkest color to your outer 'v' and make sure to blend. I blended it slightly into my crease.
Step 5: Apply eye liner and mascara.

I hope you guys like this look

The Sunshine Award

Hello! Today I am so excited because I was nominated for the Sunshine Award by the beautiful Chelsea from Tiger Love Beauty. You should  check out her blog. The Sunshine Award is given to those who inspire us and send their rays of sunshine in our lives.

A few rules before I jump into the questions:
1. Include Award Logo in or on your blog post
2. Link to the person who nominated you
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself
4. Nominate other bloggers to give this award

 1.     What inspired you to start blogging?
I have watched youtube for a few years and wanted to start a channel. I posted one video but took it down because it felt so awkward. Soon after I was introduced to the blogging world and enjoy reading posts just as much as watching videos. After thinking about it for a while I decided to give it a try. I really enjoy writing and I've had a lot of fun with it so far.

2.     You lost all of your makeup. What products would you repurchase first?
I would repurchase concealer, eyeliner and mascara first. And probably chapstick. I hate chapped lips.

3.     What’s your favorite thing about the fall?
I love the colors! The leaves changing and in fashion I like the golds, maroon, and dark purple.

4.     List 5 random facts about yourself.
-I have been married to my best friend for 3 years
-We have 2 dogs and a cat
-I am going to college for elementary education
 -I am an only child
-My mom is from Germany so I took German in high school for 4.5 years but unfortunately don't remember much of it.

5.     When did you first start wearing makeup?
I was around 12 or 13 when  I first started wearing makeup. I remember having Physician Formula Mineral Powder and a little eyeliner and mascara.

6.     What is your favorite flavor ice cream?
 Anything chocolate!

7.     What song or songs can you not resist dancing to?
I can't think of any songs off the top of my head, but anything upbeat.

8.     If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Since watching Couples Retreat I have wanted to go to Bora Bora. It looks beautiful and so relaxing and that water! wow.

9.     Show us a silly picture of yourself when you were younger.
Unfortunately we are in the process of moving and all of my old pictures are packed away. I did find this picture on my computer though from 5 years ago. This is my husband and I when we were dating trying to ride a double bike.

10. What are your favorites movies?
   -Leap Year
   -Miracle
-Hunger Games- I can't wait for the new one to come out!!

I just started blogging a few months ago and haven't had the chance to meet too many people yet. I don't have any particular people to tag, BUT if you are reading this and have a blog I tag you! :) Here are my questions.

2. What is your favorite part of blogging?
3. What are 3 interesting facts about yourself?
4. Favorite drugstore or high-end brands?

6.  If you were stranded on a deserted island, what beauty products would you have?
7. Who are your favorite beauty gurus?
8. Other than blogging, what do you like to do for fun?
9. Favorite fall treat?
10.What is your favorite vacation you have been on and why?

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. If you do this tag, or have already done it, make sure you post the link in the comment section.

Skincare Routine

Hello!
Today I wanted to share my skincare routine with you. I have sensitive skin and get little breakouts fairly easily. It has taken a lot of trialing find products that work for my skin. Keep in mind, what works for my skin may not work for everyone's.

Daytime: In the morning I start by washing my face. I like to use Yes To Tomatoes Acne Control Gel Cleanser. Before applying any makeup I use a toner to prevent oil. I recommend using an alcohol-free toner because they are not as harsh on the skin. Next I use a light moisturizer by Simple. Its light-weight and works well with my oily skin. This might not be moisturizing enough for dry skin though.

Nighttime: At night I like to use makeup wipes to remove most of my makeup and eye makeup. Then I wash my face with the same wash I use in the morning, the Yes To Tomatoes. I don't use any moisturizer at night because I feel my face gets too oily when I do. If you have dry skin I recommend using a nighttime moisturizer.

Exfoliate: About once a week I exfoliate with coconut oil and baking soda. I mix about half and half. The baking soda is gentle on the skin while still exfoliating.  I wet my face then take the mixture and apply it to my face in small circular motions then rinse.

Lemons: a few months ago I was researching more natural ways to clear breakouts. I came across taking lemon juice and applying it to any problem areas. I put the lemon juice on a cotton ball and dab it on my skin. I leave it on for about 10 minutes then rinse it off. I was surprised how well it worked and within a couple of days my skin looked significantly better. I had tiny bumps on my forehead and those were gone too. The lemon juice kills any bacteria which helps fight and prevent breakouts. It does sting when putting it on any blemishes. Avoid going in the sun with it on your face because it can lighten skin. Lemon juice can also cause dark spots where it was applied on darker skin.

Makeup Kit For Beginners

Hello everyone!
When first starting to wear makeup, it can be overwhelming trying to find inexpensive, good quality products . Here is a list of things to consider when deciding what to get.

Brushes:
Real Techniques

Brushes make a big difference in the application of makeup.  Real Techniques and Eco-tools both are good brushes for a decent price. I find that the bristles are soft and don't shed. I also own a few e.l.f. brushes and find they are pretty good quality. The normal ones are $1 each, or they have a professional line for $3 each. You don't need to go out and buy every kind of brush, but there are a few I recommend having in your makeup kit.
  • Face Brushes:
    • Powder brush- When using a liquid foundation or bb cream it is important to set it with a translucent powder or pressed powder. This helps the makeup last longer.
    • Blush Brush- Obviously this is used to apply blush and give it a nice even application on your cheeks.
      Ecotools
    • Face Brush- You will need to decide how you want to apply your foundation or bb cream. You can use your fingers, or you can choose to use a brush or sponge. There are a few different options for face brushes. You can get a flat top kabuki brush, a foundation brush, or you can get a beauty blender or other type of sponge. For starting out I would recommend using your fingers, or a makeup sponge, because these are the easiest to use.
  • Eyeshadow Brushes:
    • Eyeshadow Brush- This is a flat brush that is used to apply eyeshadow on your entire lid.
    • Blending Brush- This is used to apply color to the crease of your eye. It is easily used to blend the color and prevent harsh lines.
    • Angled liner brush- This can be used to fill in eyebrows, or to apply gel eyeliner.
Face makeup: For this I would recommend a bb cream over a foundation. If you are just starting to wear makeup you probably don't need a full coverage. BB creams are great because they are light and give a natural finish, but it evens out skin tone. You will want to be sure to find one that matches your skin tone well, as well as your skin type. If you have oily skin, be sure to get one that is oil-free. Make sure to use a face moisturizer before applying any face makeup. Also, if you have oily skin setting your makeup with a translucent powder will help face makeup last longer.

Concealer: Concealer is used to cover any blemishes and under-eye circles. You want this to be a shade lighter then your foundation.

Blush: Blush comes in a powder and cream form. When choosing a color, find one that suits your skin tone. You don't want something that is too light, or too dark because it will look unnatural.

Eyeshadow: I would start with neutral colors. They are easy to use and they go with any look. You will want lighter colors for an all over eye color and slightly darker colors for your crease. Wet and Wild has a large selection of colors and they are reasonably priced too.  Eyeshadow can also be used to fill in eyebrows if you choose. If you are blond, use a shade darker and if you are brunette, use a shade lighter.

Eyeliner: Eyeliner can be tricky to apply at first. It gets easier with practice though. It comes in pencil, kohl, gel and liquid. You will want to pick the kind you use based on the look you are going for. Gel and liquid are good for the upper lash line and they last a long time. Pencil and kohl are good for the bottom lash line or water line. They are easily smudged if you want a smoky look. They don't last as long though.

Mascara: Mascara defines and separates lashes and makes your eyes stand out. Great lash by Maybelline is a good one.

Lips: Lip gloss or a tinted lip balms look nice without being too much. Revlon lip butters are my favorite and give just a hint of color.

By no means do you need to have all of these products to wear makeup. Pick and choose what you want to wear. Natural is always good. If you want any recommendations for products just let me know.
